About the BEA

The Brussels Enterprise Agency (BEA) is the central one-stop shop set up by the regional authorities to provide advice and consulting services to Brussels-based companies and to companies wishing to set up a business in Brussels. The BEA provides assistance to foreign investors on such crucial matters as finding the ideal location to set up a business, addressing legal issues and determining if public grants are available.

The BEA’s in-house experts, as well as their networks of contacts in the region, can provide answers to all your questions regarding the creation or development of an enterprise in the Brussels-Capital Region. The agency also can put you in contact with key individuals at all the relevant institutions, associations and professional organisations that can aid in assuring that your enterprise is both successful and profitable.

The BEA’s strength lies in its multidisciplinary team of experts who work in close collaboration under one roof. This allows the agency to make optimal use of the resources available: thus assuring that existing and future enterprises get tailor made assistance and the specific information they require.

The BEA's four business units will provide you with all the assistance you need before, during and after your establishment in the Brussels-Capital region.

» International Relations

A first mission of the International Relations department is to assist foreign investors wishing to set-up shop in the Brussels Capital region and to convince them to “think Europe, and act from Brussels”.

Once you are settled in Brussels, the International Relations department’s second mission is to put its extensive European experience at your service in order to keep you updated and to facilitate your access to European funding opportunities for research and innovation projects.

Furthermore, thanks to the BEA’s active participation in the Innovation Relay Centre Network, covering 33 countries, you gain free access to the world’s biggest technology transfer network: a unique source for innovative technologies for the industrial and service sectors. This network enables you to identify and approach European partners in need of your specialised technical skills or know-how, or help you find solutions to your own technology requirements.

» Economy and Starters

The Economy and Starters department provides information and advice on public aid, as well as public and private services available in the Brussels-Capital Region. It also offers economic, legal, statistical and regulatory information to help you create or expand your business activity. This department will guide you through the Brussels’ institutional landscape and identify public or private sources of information that will help turn your project into a success.

» Innovative Technologies and Projects

The Innovative Technologies & Projects department provides information, advice and support for all your innovative projects. It can help you structure your projects, find essential partners, identify financing sources and make the best use of the public aid available. It can also supply you with strategic information on markets, technologies, competitors and patents. There are five areas of activity that are the focus of particular attention: new information and communication technologies (NICTs), urban industries, food processing, health and environment technologies. A specialised adviser is ready to help you in each of these sectors.

» Urban Planning and Environment

The Urban Planning and Environment department provides practical, concrete responses on the many urban planning and environmental regulations which govern most economic activities. This department will accompany you step by step through all the procedures involving municipal or regional administrations, provide you with an overview of public aid available in this area and even provide lists of professionals who can address your environmental problems.
